Sustainable Coffee

Okay let's talk sustainable coffee:

Coffee is something that most people drink at least once a day but whether or not its sustainable is not something everyone thinks about.

To produce one cup of coffee, it takes around 140 liters of water! The coffee beans are also sprayed and steeped with many chemicals and pesticides that end up harming the earth, the farmers, and the people that drink the coffee.

Organic coffee is something that you wouldn’t generally think about but it’s a thing and it’s super important. When the coffee is organic, they aren’t being steeped with chemicals, and most of the time the coffee farmers are conscious about their contributions to the earth.

The farmers participate in better crop and water management, composting coffee bean waste so they can use it as fertilizer (which already helps so much), and not using harmful chemicals so the earth is protected.

Sometimes it's hard to buy plastic-free coffee but most groceries do have coffee that is in recyclable packaging and they have organic and sustainable coffee bean options (it will say it on the packaging) so keep an eye out next time you are looking for new coffee!
