CONSCIOUS FASHION TIPS ππΌππΌ (AKA HOW TO HAVE STYLE THAT MAKES MAMA HAPPY)
clothing has a huge impact on the planet, and you can make a huge impact just by what you buy/wear. The fashion industry is responsible for 10% of total carbon emissions, and is the second largest consumer of the worlds water supply.
unfortunately we have been βtrainedβ (by clothing brands) to think that in order to be fashionable we have to always we buying the new thing. this has a big impact on the earth. rapid production of clothes = rapid pollution on our planet. I AM HERE TO TELL YOU THAT YOU DONβT NEED TO BUY NEW CLOTHES TO BE IN FASHION
HERE ARE MY GO-TO TIPS ON HOW TO BE TRENDY & ECO-CONSCIOUS:
- stop buying new clothes and wear what you have
- get creative (start saving inspo outfits and then look in your closet for similar items to recreate the look)
- THRIFT BABY (trends always come back around)
- borrow you friends/siblings/parents clothes (rather then buying a shirt for one event, see if you can borrow it)
- rent the trendy styles that will only last a season (@nuuly @renttherunway)
I created #COOTD (conscious outfit of the day) to shine a light on wearing old, thrifted, borrowed and rented clothes. So check out #COOTD for more eco-fashion inspo and share you #COOTD too!
