Decluttering

Decluttering- but make it eco-friendly

Its that time of year, when everybody is decluttering their life! Here is my way to do it without sending everything to the landfill. This method works for any area of your life

I like to make 4 piles: 1. To Keep 2. Re-Sell/Re-Gift 3. Donate 4. Recycle. Heres the break down!

1. To Keep- anything that you use all the time, anything that lights you up, anything you want to keep (I usually break this into two mini piles because I will put some things in storage)

2. Re-Sell or Re-Gift: this is stuff that somebody else might want. Things that are still awesome but they just aren’t for you. I usually like to go through and see if any of my people want any of this stuff and then I will re-sell it on places like Facebook Market Place, a resell shop like Platos Closet/Buffalo Exchange, Poshmark or Cursty or even IG Stories (peep the story for some resale clothes right now)

3. Donate: this is the stuff that you can take to the thrift shop or donation center. This is stuff that is wearable or usable but you probably cant really re-sell it. You can also join local Facebook buy nothing groups to offer it up for somebody else to use it! I like to donate to my fav second-hand store!

4. Recycle: this is where you have to get creative slightly… but usually I try to recycle anything thats broken, or overly lived, thats not useable or wearable. For clothings @for___days has textile recycling that you order a bag to ship textiles back to recycle. Also a quick google search can help you find places to drop off damaged clothing to get recycles. As far as tech, there are drop of centers that will take old tech to recycle the e-waste. For random things… @terracycle & google are probs your best friends… Google for local Terracycle drop offs (usually local zero waste stores have drop offs) or you can get a teracycle box to ship stuff your own. They recycle almost everything!
